From September 19 to October 26 Eucentre has carried out assessment activities on historical buildings in the areas struck by the earthquake, under the joint coordination of the Italian Department Civil Protection,  the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and the ReLUIS consortium.
The joint teams composed by experts of Eucentre and University of Pavia have been involved in the on-site assessment activities throughout the duration of the emergency, which have been temporary suspended  due to the strong earthquake of October 26.
On the whole 5 teams, for a total of almost 50 man-days, have been deployed for the on-site activities. A total of 93 churches and 1 building have been assessed in the provinces of Ascoli Piceno, Macerata, Fermo, L’Aquila and Teramo. More than half of the structures (51%) resulted unusable.
