CURRENT POSITION:
Doctoral Candidate in Earthquake Engineering at the UME School, ROSE Programme
Graduate Researcher

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES:
Graduate School for Understanding and Managing Extremes (UME), Pavia, Italy
Graduate Teaching Assistant, Seismic Isolation and Dissipation (June/July 2015, under preparation)
• Preparing tutorials for conducting nonlinear analysis using the program RUAUMOKO
• Will assist students in learning and implementing design strategies and analysis methods for various types of supplemental damping devices, self-centering systems and seismic isolation systems

Applied Technology Council, Redwood City, California, U.S.A.
Graduate Researcher, May 2014-September 2014 (present)
• Lead analyst for a pilot study within the ATC-110 project looking at retrofit options of timber cripple walls for residential homes common in California.
• Work aims to assess the effectiveness of various practical retrofit options suggested by the ATC-110 practitioner committee.
• Archetype timber buildings are analyzed using specialized finite element software to allow consideration of physical behaviour associated with timber structures

European Centre for Training and Research in Earthquake Engineering, Pavia, Italy
Graduate Researcher, May 2014-July 2014 (present)
• Assess the probabilistic uncertainty associated with various types of RC frame buildings, with a focus on frames with sub-standard detailing with respect to current seismic codes
• Investigate the effects of beam-column joint strength, shear failure, and bar slippage for the development of a number of key limit states as well as estimates of uncertainty in seismic demands
• Work will contribute to enhancing current simplified assessment methods of non-ductile RC frame buildings
