The 2nd International Nigel Priestley Seminar, named in honour of Prof. Nigel Priestley, co-founder of the ROSE School, will take place in Pavia on 19-20 May 2016.
The Seminar corresponds to the 16th edition of the traditional UME School/ROSE Seminar, during which MSc and PhD students in Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology (ROSE Programme), Risk and Emergency Management (REM Programme) and Weather Related Risk (WRR Programme) of the UME postgraduate school are given the opportunity to present and discuss their research work to an audience of international experts. In addition to standard presentations on research work carried out at the School, the Seminar will continue the tradition of inviting a prominent scientist to deliver a keynote lecture on a given contemporary and highly relevant topic in the field of Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology.
At this year’s event, the keynote address entitled “Structural Analysis from the 1960s to Now – A Half Century of Change” will be delivered by Athol Carr, Emeritus Professor at University of Canterbury, New Zealand.
