EDUCATION:
Federica Bianchi graduated in Building Engineering and Architecture at the University of Pavia (Italy) in April 2006. In September 2006 she joined the ROSE School (Centre for Post-Graduate Training and Research in Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology) to attend the Master’s program (MSc) in Earthquake Engineering that she completed in 2008 with a thesis entitled: “Seismic vulnerability assessment of a Hospital building” (supervisor: Dr. Rui Pinho).

CURRENT POSITION:
Research engineer at EUCENTRE in the “Structural Analysis” section (main topics: modelling, nonlinear analyses, seismic assessment and retrofitting of existing rc structures; finite element analyses for the comparative evaluation of the results of several softwares; drafting of manuals)

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES:
During the course of studies she collaborated with Studio BCPM Associates dealing with the preparation of technical drawings and with the seismic assessment of existing buildings. In October 2006 she achieved the qualification to practice as an Engineer and in January 2007 she was admitted to the Engineers of the Province of Imperia (Italy). In 2008 she started to collaborate with the Seismic Risk section at EUCENTRE (Pavia), where she performed several finite element analyses for a comparative evaluation of the results of various structural analysis software and participated in projects lending her experience in the modelling of the nonlinear behaviour of reinforced concrete structures. At the same time she was also involved in testing a software, commissioned by the Calabria region, which manages a series of building control procedures according to current Italian seismic code (NTC08). In July 2010 she joined the Structural Analysis section where she is currently working. During her work at EUCENTRE she also participated with Dr. Rui Pinho in several “Blind Prediction Contests” (such as the “2009 Blind Analysis Contest by E-Defence” and the “2010 Blind Prediction Contest sponsored by NEES and PEER”) and collaborated in teaching activities (training courses for engineers).
