By adopting the Gender Equality Plan (GEP) for 2024\u20132026, Eucentre is further strengthening its commitment to eliminating gender inequality and contributing to the achievement of the United Nations&#8217; Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, specifically:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Goal 5 &#8211; Gender Equality;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Goal 8 &#8211; Decent Work and Economic Growth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The GEP is a strategic tool for cultural change and is divided into four key action areas:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0Staff selection and career progression;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Gender representation in decision-making bodies;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Work-life balance;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ongoing commitment to disseminating equal opportunities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An internal analysis covering the three-year period from 2020 to 2022 revealed areas for improvement and important milestones already achieved. These milestones demonstrate Eucentre&#8217;s commitment to building a more equitable organisation.<br \/>\nDuring the analysed period, scientific responsibility in research projects was equally distributed between men and women, which is a significant indicator of trust in and recognition of women&#8217;s skills.<br \/>\nStaff participation in scientific and operational missions was found to be gender equal, demonstrating an organisation that values field experience inclusively.<br \/>\nSmart working has been implemented in a balanced way, providing equal opportunities for flexible working, a key tool for achieving work-life balance.<br \/>\nThe GEP was approved by the Board of Directors and published to ensure full accessibility and transparency for all staff, with the involvement of key figures in governance and internal communication.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The analysis revealed some structural issues common to the STEM sector, namely:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Male predominance in technical staff and top positions;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">An average salary gap of 5-7% in favour of men;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Still limited female representation in statutory bodies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>To address these issues, the Plan includes the following targeted actions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Promoting the presence of women in selection committees and decision-making bodies;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Annual monitoring of the gender pay gap;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Active policies to support career progression and enhance women&#8217;s skills;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Continuing education and internal awareness activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Through the GEP 2024-2026, Eucentre intends to lead by example in the fields of applied research and civil protection, showing that scientific excellence and equity, inclusion and respect for diversity go hand in hand.<br \/>\nSupporting gender equality is not just a matter of justice; it is a driver of innovation and progress that strengthens our mission to serve the community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/GEP_Eucentre_2024-2026.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>\u2022 Gender Equality Plan 2024\u20132026 (Pdf)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Eucentre Foundation has always promoted a fair, inclusive and meritocratic work environment.
