Earthquakes and Structures \u2013 How to Mitigate Seismic Effects Exhibition<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u201cEarthquakes and Structures \u2013 How to Mitigate Seismic Effects” is a traveling exhibition created by the EUCENTRE Foundation with the support of the Italian Civil Protection Department. Its goal is to raise awareness about the seismic vulnerabilities present across Italy and the possible mitigation measures that can be implemented.
\n<\/span>The exhibition includes a section dedicated to the concept of seismic risk, followed by an introduction to both structural and non-structural prevention strategies in the context of civil protection. The next part of the exhibition focuses on civil protection structural activities, with particular attention to the knowledge of past earthquakes in Italy, the structural vulnerabilities of the most common building types, the intervention techniques to reduce these vulnerabilities and the technological and scientific advancements in seismic risk mitigation.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to the informative displays, the exhibition features a hands-on experience where participants can explore the phenomenon of resonance and observe the difference in behavior between a seismically isolated and a non-isolated structure, through simulations using the Compact Simulator System.
\n<\/span>The visit concludes with the \u201cearthquake experience\u201d, in which participants can feel the tremors of the same earthquake under different conditions: at ground level, on the fifth floor of a reinforced concrete building, and inside a seismically isolated structure. This immersive experience, guided by expert staff, helps participants understand what it feels like to experience an earthquake and how the structural response influences the perception of the shaking.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Seismulator: Shaking Table for Seismic Research and Awareness<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Seismulator is a transportable shaking table measuring 2\u00d75 metres with three degrees of freedom. It is a versatile tool, ideal for conducting tests on small to medium-sized models and, in particular, for raising seismic awareness among the public.
\n<\/span>As part of the awareness campaign, the simulator offers participants the opportunity to experience the effects of an earthquake first-hand. The seismic simulation experience is structured in three distinct phases, reproducing the same shock but perceived in different structural contexts:<\/span><\/p>\n
