In the framework of the European Project INFRA-NAT, aimed at increased resilience of critical infrastructure through preventative measures, effective resource management and prioritisation, to seismic hazard and ageing\/deteriorating effects in bridges, EUCENTRE developed haselREC (HAzard-based SELection of RECords), an open-source Python code for record selection and scaling. Based on several state-of-art tools, resources and methodologies in a harmonised way, haselREC is an innovative tool that facilitates the definition of seismic input for non-linear dynamic analyses of structures. In fact, haselREC has been formulated to be executed after a probabilistic seismic hazard and disaggregation analysis performed with OpenQuake. Record selection is carried out according to the conditional spectrum method, allowing the use of intensity measures such as peak ground acceleration (PGA) and spectral acceleration (Sa(T)), in addition to the average spectral acceleration (AvgSa), which can be advantageous when assessing multiple structures and to account for uncertainty on the response period of the target structure. Moreover, haselREC uses the Ground Motion Prediction Equations (GMPEs) already implemented in the OpenQuake library and it can be directly linked to the web-services of the Engineering Strong Motion (ESM) database for automatic download of records. Finally, haselREC allows to automatically scale the selected recordings.
