On Wednesday, August 20th, the Eucentre Foundation hosted a visit of a prestigious delegation from Uzbekistan. This delegation comprised 12 esteemed members from various sectors of Uzbekistan’s academic, governmental, and civil engineering communities. The visit was a significant step towards fostering international collaboration and knowledge exchange in the field of earthquake engineering.<\/p>\n

The delegation, led by Prof. Mirzayev Sirojiddin Zainiyevich of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan<\/strong>, included high-level representatives from the President’s Administration, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Institute of Seismology, the Ministry of Construction and leading Uzbek universities.<\/p>\n

The programme included a comprehensive tour of Eucentre’s facilities, focusing on the multimedia classroom and state-of-the-art laboratories. Afterwards, a meeting was held during which an overview of the activities that Eucentre carries out in collaboration with other Pavia institutions, such as the IUSS<\/a><\/strong>, the University of Pavia<\/a><\/strong>, and the GEM Foundation<\/a><\/strong>, in the field of earthquake engineering was presented.<\/p>\n

The Uzbek delegates showed particular interest in Eucentre’s testing facilities, the Italian seismic regulatory framework, seismic isolation technologies and Eucentre’s network, which includes companies, universities and start-ups.<\/p>\n

This interest reflects Uzbekistan’s increasing focus on adopting advanced earthquake-resistant technologies in a country with high seismic activity.<\/p>\n

At the end of the meeting, the delegation presented Prof. Rui Pinho<\/strong>, vice-president of Eucentre<\/strong>, with a symbolic present as a token of appreciation and as a wish for future collaboration.<\/p>\n

This visit is part of Eucentre’s efforts to promote international cooperation in earthquake engineering. The Foundation continues to consolidate its role as a global centre of excellence, attracting the attention of experts and institutions worldwide.<\/p>\n

The presence of such an influential Uzbek delegation underlines the growing importance of earthquake-resistant technologies in Central Asia. It opens new perspectives for joint research projects and knowledge exchanges between Italy and Uzbekistan in seismic safety.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>
