The programme for the 9th International Nigel Priestley Seminar <\/em>has been officially published. The event will take place in Pavia <\/strong>on May 29th<\/sup> and 30th<\/sup>, 2025, <\/strong>at Il Collegio Cardinale Agostino Riboldi<\/strong>, consolidating its position as a significant event in the international panorama of earthquake engineering <\/strong>and sustainable structural design<\/strong>.
\nPromoted by IUSS Pavia, <\/strong>the ROSE <\/strong>PhD programme and in collaboration with the Eucentre Foundation <\/strong>and the University of Pavia<\/strong>, the seminar will bring together PhD students<\/strong>, alums, and researchers <\/strong>from all over the world, offering an important platform to share the latest research results in the field of seismic risk mitigation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Keynote Lecture: Sustainability and Innovation in Structural Design<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The highlight of the seminar will be the Lectio Magistralis <\/strong>by Prof. Alessandra Marini <\/strong>of the University of Bergamo<\/strong>, entitled Shaping the Sustainability Transition: Challenges for Conceptual Structural Design<\/em>.
\nThe keynote will address the challenges that the transition to sustainability <\/strong>poses to the conceptual design of <\/strong>structures, a topic of increasing importance for civil engineering <\/strong>and urban resilience <\/strong>strategies.<\/p>\n

The Nigel Priestley Seminar <\/em>is a unique opportunity to explore structural materials innovation<\/strong>, seismic vulnerability reduction strategies<\/strong>, advanced modelling, <\/strong>and resilient solutions<\/strong>.
