Launched in April 2023 and set to conclude in September 2026, the initiative brings together leading European institutions and aims to produce country-specific analyses on disaster risk management and reduction, based on standard guidelines.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Project objectives and scope<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">These analyses focus on identifying and mapping major risks, assessing response capacities, and highlighting operational gaps. A further objective is to support the development of local risk management capacities, ensure sustainable knowledge transfer, and foster regional cooperation, in line with or complementary to the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM).<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Previous missions and the Serbian stage<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">The project foresees Fact-Finding Missions (FFMs) in 22 countries, covering the Balkans, Eastern Europe, the Eastern Neighbourhood, and North Africa. Eucentre has already participated in missions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in March 2023, meeting with the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection Directorates, and in T\u00fcrkiye, in April 2023, with meetings at AFAD and the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation, and Climate Change.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, on 8\u20139 September 2025, Eucentre carried out a mission in Belgrade, Serbia, with Eng. Davide Bellotti. This activity is part of the ongoing FFM cycle, focusing on collecting data on local disaster risk management practices, operational capacities, and capacity-building needs.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Institutions met in Belgrade<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">Meetings were held with key Serbian institutions, including the Ministry of Public Investment, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, theGeological Institute of Serbia, the Republican Hydrometeorological Institute, the Republican Seismological Institute, the Civil Protection and Risk Management Authority, and the Fire and Rescue Department.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">European partners of the project<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">The Multi-Country Study is carried out by a consortium of European partners, including the International Centre for Environmental Monitoring (CIMA), the Department for Emergency Situations of Romania (DSU), the Geological Survey of Slovenia (GeoZS), the Fire University in Poland (APoz), and the National APELL Centre for Disaster Management (CN APELL-RO) of Romania.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"vc_empty_space\"   style=\"height: 32px\"><span class=\"vc_empty_space_inner\"><\/span><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Eucentre Foundation is a partner in the DG-ECHO funded project \u201cMulti-Country Study: Comprehensive Analysis of Disaster Risk Landscape and Capacity to Respond\u201d, coordinated by the Italian Civil Protection Department (DPC).
