A seismic testing campaign has been carried out at Eucentre’s laboratories in Pavia on vektron clip-in ceilings manufactured by kreon, to assess their behaviour under earthquake conditions and compliance with leading international standards.
The tests, conducted on three units, followed the ICC-ES AC156:2020 and ISO 13033:2013 protocols and employed Eucentre’s 6-DOF shake table. The activities included:
– design and construction of a dedicated steel reaction frame;
– installation of triaxial accelerometers and displacement transducers;
– dedicated data acquisition for dynamic testing;
– dynamic identification tests;
– triaxial seismic tests with increasing input intensity;
– data analysis and post-processing;
– preparation of a comprehensive technical report with video and photographic documentation.
These activities reaffirm EUCENTRE’s role as an international centre of excellence in the seismic assessment of non-structural components. They also reflect the growing importance and increasing focus of the industrial sector on the seismic protection of non-structural elements, now regarded as a cornerstone for building safety and the continuity of economic and social activities.
