On September 27th-28th, 2024, Pavia will be among the Italian cities to host the European Researchers’ Night, a major European initiative promoted by the Sharper project to bring scientific research to the heart of society. The event, which will take place simultaneously in 15 Italian cities, is a unique opportunity for the public to interact directly with researchers and understand the importance of science in everyday life.
September 27th, 2024 – Science in the Courtyard: Eucentre Foundation alongside the popularisation of science
On Friday, September 27th, as part of the ‘Science in the Courtyard’ initiative, Fondazione Eucentre will participate in an interactive stand set up in the courtyards of Pavia Central University. From 2 p.m. to midnight, visitors will be able to explore the world of seismology by demonstrating a vibrating electric tablet and presenting models of seismic isolators. These instruments illustrate how modern technologies can mitigate the effects of earthquakes. In addition, explanatory videos on the Foundation’s research activities will be shown, focusing on popularisation for the youngest members of the public.
September 28th, 2024 – Open Lab Eucentre: Visit our laboratories and discover seismology
On Saturday, September 28th, Eucentre Foundation will open the doors of its laboratories with the initiative ‘Open Lab: Getting to know earthquakes’. Participants can visit the experimental laboratories and learn more about earthquakes, their characteristics, and the technologies developed to reduce their impact. The visits, divided into three shifts, will provide a comprehensive overview of the research underway, highlighting the Foundation’s commitment to earthquake risk prevention.
