Today, the Eucentre Foundation had the honour of welcoming the Minister for Civil Protection and Maritime Policy, Senator Nello Musumeci, to its headquarters in Pavia.
The meeting was a significant opportunity to showcase the Foundation’s research, training, and experimentation activities in support of the Department of Civil Protection in the field of seismic risk mitigation and infrastructure safety.
In the late morning, Minister Musumeci met with the President of the Eucentre Foundation, Prof. Rui Pinho, the Rector of IUSS Pavia, Prof. Mario Martina, the Rector of the University of Pavia, Prof. Alessandro Reali, and the civil and local authorities present, including Hon. Alessandro Cattaneo, Dr. Francesca De Carlini, Prefect of Pavia, Dr. Nicola Falvella, Chief of Police of Pavia, and Dr Roberto Rizzardi, Civil Protection Delegate of the Municipality of Pavia.
President Rui Pinho and General Manager Fabio Germagnoli presented the main activities and ongoing projects, with particular attention to the collaboration with the Department of Civil Protection and the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to promoting the culture of prevention.
The visit continued at the Eucentre Foundation laboratories, where guests observed the large-scale testing infrastructure and tried out the 6D shaking table in Lab02. This experience demonstrates the Foundation’s commitment to research and development of advanced technologies for seismic risk mitigation and building resilience.
