ETTORE FAGÀ

Ettore Fagà is Director of Research and Innovation at the Eucentre Foundation, since September 2026. He previously worked at Eucentre as a researcher, focusing on the seismic vulnerability assessment of buildings and industrial facilities.

He graduated in Civil Engineering from the University of Pavia in 2008 and holds an MSc (2010) and a PhD (2013) in Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology from the ROSE School and IUSS Pavia.

In 2009 he worked as Assistant Construction Manager on the CASE project for the post-earthquake reconstruction of L’Aquila. In 2013 he joined RED – Risk Engineering + Development, where he progressed from Senior Catastrophe Risk Modeller to Project Manager and, since 2018, Chief Operating Officer and Senior Manager. Over these years he has supervised the development of proprietary multi-peril catastrophe models and coordinated numerous projects for public and private clients, leading a multidisciplinary team of about 20 scientists and engineers.

These projects have focused on assessing and reducing the risks caused by extreme natural events. In 2017 he was part of the team that developed the earthquake and tropical cyclone models underpinning the CCRIF SPC parametric insurance products. He has supervised several projects for international donors such as the World Bank, including, in 2020, “Strengthening the Resilience of Public Facilities in Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu”, for which he was technical lead. He has also coordinated activities in EU-funded projects on climate adaptation and resilience, and was lead designer of a physical climate risk assessment tool for corporate and real-estate portfolios, awarded at the G20 TechSprint promoted by the BIS and the Bank of Italy.

His interest is in developing solutions that help public and private institutions reduce the impacts of extreme natural events and strengthen their resilience in the context of climate change, bringing the latest scientific evidence and the most up-to-date data into operational tools.
