Sicuro+ is an app developed by Eucentre in collaboration with the Civil Protection Department. Its aim is to make fundamental information on seismic risk in Italy accessible to all citizens.
By searching for a municipality, users can view the territory’s seismic risk level and understand its three main components: hazard, vulnerability and exposure.
Created for informative, educational and awareness-raising purposes, Sicuro+ aims to:
- make the concept of seismic risk and its associated factors , hazard, vulnerability and exposure, understandable to everyone;
- It provides reliable data on the level of seismic risk in various Italian municipalities;
- It also aims to promote greater awareness among citizens of the characteristics of their territory;
- It also aims to stimulate behaviour oriented towards risk prevention and reduction, including through knowledge of the built environment and the urban context.
Sicuro+ is designed for a wide audience, paying particular attention to:
- citizens who are curious or concerned about the safety of their territory and wish to learn more about seismic risk in their area.
- local administrators, technicians, and professionals working in land management and urban planning.
- students and teachers can use it as a teaching tool to educate people about prevention and knowledge of natural risks;
- volunteers and civil protection operators who want an easy-to-use tool for effective communication with the population.
In a country like Italy, where many areas are subject to seismic risk, Sicuro+ is a valuable tool for promoting a culture of prevention and encouraging citizen engagement and responsibility. Recognising the risk is the first step to facing it with awareness.
