ENDED IN 2015

The PRISMA project “PiattafoRme cloud Interoperabili per SMArt-government” (Interoperable Cloud Platforms for Smart Government), funded by the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research as part of the 2007-2013 National Operational Programme, has implemented an integrated action for the information society in the areas of cloud computing technologies for smart government and smart health.
The reference sector was that of the security of territorial systems in the face of natural disasters, where the use of information and communication technologies in public administration proved to be of strategic interest in improving emergency management processes and helped to promote the adoption of shared prevention policies.

Seismic risk

In the field of assisted seismic risk assessment at a territorial level, vulnerability and usability, and building monitoring, PRISMA has developed a general-purpose Software as a Service application, made available for testing to the municipalities of Enna and Messina.

The application has made it possible to collect accurate data on the physical and mechanical characteristics of buildings, from remote structural monitoring systems based on wireless sensors, geophysical/geotechnical structural surveys geotechnical surveys and reconnaissance drones, and to evaluate them in real time based on the seismic hazard of the sites, using structural modelling/analysis applications and an advanced seismic risk calculation engine.
The platform, completed during the project, provided services for pre- and post-event performance assessment (residual capacity and usability), simulation of possible damage scenarios, seismic risk assessment at the territorial level, alerting and estimation of systemic vulnerability, thanks also to integration with a powerful WebGIS and other management user interfaces.
