On June 24, 2025, the European Parliament in Brussels hosted an event dedicated to strengthening the resilience of transport infrastructures in the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) against natural hazards, with a focus on airports and ports.
As a reference case study, Re-MXP was presented, a project promoted by SEA Milan Airports (SEA S.p.A.) and co-funded by the European Union under the Connecting Europe Facility – Transport programme. Launched in 2021, the project involves a total investment of over €24 million and focuses on three main areas:
- Mitigating hydraulic risk by upgrading drainage systems;
- Seismic retrofitting of Terminal 1 to ensure operational continuity;
- A smart multi-risk monitoring system providing real-time data collection and predictive maintenance.
Eucentre Foundation is a technical partner of SEA, contributing to the implementation of the seismic smart monitoring system.
Francesca Bozzoni, project coordinator for Eucentre, and Fabio Germagnoli, general manager of the Eucentre Foundation, attended the event.
Eucentre’s participation in high-level institutional events such as this one confirms its role as a centre of excellence in earthquake risk reduction and the resilience of strategic infrastructures.
