Questi test sono stati effettuati nell’ambito del programma di ricerca sponsorizzato dal Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij BV (NAM) per la valutazione dei rischi e dei pericoli derivanti dalla sismicità indotta nel territorio di Groningen, nel nord dei Paesi Bassi, che negli ultimi anni è stato colpito da terremoti di entità relativamente bassa correlati alle attività di estrazione del gas.
