ISRA (Integrative Strengthening of Seismic Risk Awareness) is a project funded by the European Union under the grant agreement: 101101255 – ISRA – UCPM-2022-PP. The project, coordinated by IZIIS, started in December 2022 and will last two years.
The area of interest of the project is the cross-border region of North Macedonia, Albania, and Greece. the focus area includes 18 municipalities in North Macedonia, 11 districts in Albania, and 12 municipalities in Greece, and is characterised with a great variety of natural hazards, especially seismic and landslide hazards.
Geographic focus of the project – Cross-border region N. Macedonia-Albania-Greece.
The ISRA project is a follow-up to the CRISIS project (Comprehensive RISk assessment of basic services and transport InfraStructure, November 2020-November 2022), coordinated by IZISS and in which EUCENTRE was one of the partners.
The main objective of ISRA is to raise awareness among the population living (or working) in the project area about the seismic risk they are exposed to. Specifically, the project intends to: (i) improve the population’s knowledge of earthquakes and seismic-induced landslides; (ii) inform the population on the correct behaviour to adopt in case of an event; and (iii) train emergency management officials in risk and crisis communication. These objectives will be pursued through a series of training activities and media campaigns developed within the project according to the type of audience they are aimed at.
