  • P.E. “e1” 2012-2014 “Costruire in emergenza”. Two-year project between Eucentre and the Italian Civil Protection. The Structural Analysis research group is carrying out a three-year project, within an agreement with the Italian Civil Protection Department, aimed at defining housing solutions at a post-seismic event second stage, as a function of different intervention methods, when a natural catastrophe, related to hazards such as earthquakes or landslides, occurs.
  • P.E. “c” 2012-2014 “Schede di rilievo x strutture prefabbricate”. Two-year project between Eucentre and the Italian Civil Protection. This project involves the elaboration of a technical form specifically designed for the assessment of damage and viability of precast buildings. The need for such optimized sheet comes from the fact that the currently used one, the AEDES sheet, does not include precast buildings, but instead places them in the reinforced concrete structures group, which does not cater for specific information to be obtained nor for a proper distinction with respect to reinforced concrete structures.
  • The critical evaluation of design methods in seismic zones of structural typologies based on RC precast bearing panels.
  • The definition of a design method for structures based on the Rep® structural system (Tecnostrutture). This research work has as the primary goal of developing a competitive precast building system to be employed for multi-storey buildings, for application in seismic-prone regions.
  • Numerical evaluation of the behavior of a reinforced concrete building by adding new generation dissipative devices and using advanced non linear models in order to understand the seismic performance of the structure (Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria di Modena).
  • The numerical evaluation of the seismic performances of precast and cast-in-place RC structures with stainless steel bars provided in the critical regions.
  • The development of indications for the design of concentrically braced ductile steel frame structures included the evaluation of the effects due to the fatigue phenomena.
  • The organization of Short Courses for Italian Designers in the field of seismic tank design, advanced numerical simulation and precast structures, existing buildings, assessment solutions.
  • Research related to the seismic assessment of cylindrical steel tanks. The main objective is to define and test new methodologies for the seismic design and analysis of vertical cylindrical steel tanks, used for fluid storage, in the light of current national and international standards. Such tanks, which are studied for different heights and diameters, in order to cover a wide market range, feature stainless steel walls and each of its courses is connected to the next through welding.
  • Numerical assessment of the behaviour of two panels, which are currently part of the production line of ‘BS Italia’, a company working in the field of industrial construction. The assessment will be essentially carried out through advanced numerical analysis of 3D finite element models and subsequent consideration of geometrical and material nonlinearity of steel and reinforced concrete. It will also take into consideration the development of large displacements and deformation. The external loads will be considered within a nonlinear static regime.
  • Memorandum of understanding between Eucentre and Assobeton with the purpose of: elaborating a state-of-the-art review on national and international standards, guidelines and recommendations related to the use of steel components for precast structures; a state-of-the-art review of national and international literature on steel components for precast structures; comprehensive evaluation of the characteristics and possible mechanisms of stress transferring to every specific connecting system/device.
  • Agreement between ‘Confindustria Piacenza’ and Eucentre for the latter to carry out a technical and scientific consultancy to ‘Confindustria Piacenza’, following the 20 and 29 May 2012 Emilia earthquakes, which include: the assessment of the damage in the industrial facilities of all their associated members, analysis of risk scenarios for those same facilities and collection and delivery of specific scientific/technical documentation.
